Penny Black Saturday Challenge Week #50 - Buttons Galore!

This week's Penny Black Saturday challenge is to make something using buttons. I have not used buttons in my paper crafts before, thinking that I needed to also get thread as well. This was a good time to experiment using a new embellishment so during Memorial Day, I stopped at Michaels to pick up some buttons. Black, white and yellow came to mind for me, so I ended up creating this card.

I just bought the Penny Black fireworks stamp and thought it would be great to use for this challenge. The Copic markers I used for the flowers were Y15 (cadumium yellow) and Y17 (golden yellow) and just did a blending with both colors. I also used the At You Spica pens orange and gold to highlight the flowers. The buttons were from Dress It Up - Color Me Black. For the black lace, I used the self adhesive paper lace from Creative Imaginations - Narratives. I LOVE using this lace!

Thanks for stopping by!

Penny Black Saturday Challenge Week 49 - Recipe 3, 2, 1

This week's Penny Black Saturday Challenge is to do something using 3 flowers, 2 papers, and 1 charm/brad. Below is my entry. I went simple this route.

I used the DCVW textured card - cream color for the card. For the paper, I used Imaginisce Loves Me/Love Is In the Air paper (one side flowers, the other side a pretty sponging of pink. For the band, I used the Penny Black sentiments stamp "cheer up!" with a gold brad. The three flowers (green and pink flowers with the gold brads) are from Petaloo - Flora Doodles foam flowers.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge Week #48 - Black, White and 1 Other

Here is my entry to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog that I recently joined - Black, White and 1 Other. This contest in particular is to use the colors black and white and one other color of your choosing, in this case I used the color pink, which is one of my favorite colors. :)

For the pink card and big circle scallop, I used the DCWV paper Assorted Box of Cards in textured pattern. The Penny Black critter and quote is from the "Bubbly" collection, which I love! The critter's feet were colored with Copic marker RV34 - Dark Pink. For the background paper, I used Creative Imaginations Black Polka paper. The black self-adhesive paper lace is also from Creative Imaginations - Narratives by Karen Russell.

I used the Nestabilities big circle scallop and big circle die cuts (the larger circle and scallop shapes).

One of my friends has a birthday coming up so I may give her this card. :)

Random Cards

Many events came up the last week that I was busy making cards from birthday to sympathy.

Happy Birthday

I used the Penny Black stamp"...your birthday" (love the critter) and the sentiments collection for the happy birthday phrasing and the dotted circles (colored by Colorbox colors orange and red).

For the colors of the critter, I used Copic Markers E33 (Sand), E35 (chamois), RV13 (tender pink) and the colorless blender. The present and the icing of the cake was in R37 (carmine), which is starting to become my favorite red color. RV13 was used again for the first layer of icing on the cake. I used Y17 (golden yellow) for the cake color and lighting of the candle with a little bit of the orange "at you spica" pen. :)

Sympathy

The flower on the front of the card is from the Kodomo Inc Spring Flower collection. The flower is called "Sweet Flag." What a great name for the flower. I colored the flower and the stem using the Marvy Uchida markers pale violet and olive green. I haven't used the Uchida markers in a long time. I should pull them out once in a while. They are great for coloring and adding detail.

Mother's Day Cards

I was kind of in a rut deciding what designs to do for Mother's Day cards - one for my mom and one for my step mother-in-law. After about 20 minutes of planning and designing, I came up with two designs.

For this card, I used the Hero Arts stamp set Happy Mom's Day. I used Copic markers E35 with the colorless blender for the birds' body and E09 for the wings. I used YR04 for the tiny flower the birds have and for coloring the edging of the circle scallop. The background orange and white paper is from A Muse (vintage orange).

For this card, I used the A Muse stamp Wild Bouquet, with Copic colors YR04, for the flowers, G17 for the stems and R06. I also used the Copic At You Spica pens red, orange and olive to put a little sparkle to the flowers. And now....time to think of Father's Day cards. :)

Birthday Cards

This week, I made two birthday cards deciding which one to give to my boss. They came out pretty well.

I used the same stamp for both cards - Penny Black Cheesecake Parade. The "Seize the Cake" and "Your Special Day" stamps were from the Hero Arts Birthday Set. For the "Seize the Cake" card, I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder A2 Bloom Dots. For the "Your Special Day" card, I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder A2 Tiny Mosaic Texture. For the colors, I used Copic colors E33, E35 with the colorless blender and RV11 for the hands and feet for the critters. For the gray "shadowing," I used BV23 and the Copic At You Spica silver pen. The cheese the critters have was in the Y17 color with At You Spica gold and the flowers were with Y13 with At Your Spica orange and lemon and G17 and At Your Spica Olive for the stems. I loveee the Spica pens!
My co-worker and I ended up giving our boss the "Seize the Cake" card. My boss looved it!
